A Mediterranean red variety of unknown origin, it is cultivated in several regions of Portugal, with special emphasis in the area of the various PDOs covered by the IGP Lisbon. Prefers hot, dry climates. The wines produced, generally of good quality and intense color, full-bodied, with astringency that is attenuated with aging (generally with good aging capacity) become very pleasant, with an emphasis on their bouquet.
