BONFARO
THE BEAUTIFUL LIGHTHOUSE
DFJ VINHOS pays homage to the lighthouses that have guided sailors along our Atlantic coast for centuries, many of them in the Lisbon region, where we highlight the Cabo Carvoeiro lighthouse, which marks the westernmost point of Europe.
Today there is a growing demand for lighter wines with less alcohol, without compromising quality, the pleasure they transmit and the ability to share pleasure with family and friends.
BONFARO Wines are 11% wines that are so full bodied and complex that the lower abv is impossible to detect.
Vineyards are located 30 miles north of Lisbon and 20 miles from the coast.
The area has lots of sunshine but a strong Atlantic influence so the wines are always ripe but fresh and well balanced.

Classic fermentation method with destemming and pre fermentative skin contact followed of the application of dry yeasts. Fermentation up to 30º C in the first 2/3, and lowering down to 20º C during the last 1/3. During the whole fermentative process, pumping over 2 times per day, using each time half of the volume contained in the vat. After the alcoholic fermentation, the cap is plunged for 30 days, and during that period, extraction of the gentle tannins is conducted, along with the malolactic fermentation and the natural stabilization of the wine.
Ageing in bottle a minimum of 1 month after bottling.
The deep ruby colour of this wine indicates its full bodied, fruity style. Full of character yet extremely smooth, it has a delicious flavour of ripe berry fruits and violets completed by oak spice. The finish is dry and lasts exceptionally well on the palate.
Excellent with food or by itself. Will accompany, for example, pasta, meat, and vegetarian cheese dishes. We recommend to serve at the temperature of 10-16ºC.
